Intro:
AutoLinkExchanger is one of the most comprehensive reciprocal link
exchange programs out there. Not only does it make use of its own
proprietary link exchange algorithm (like other good link exchange
scripts) but it incorporates other cool features that make it stand
out from the crowd.
Price: $197 but you can test drive it for free for a long time.
Cons:
More expensive than SEO Elite. Nickolay Bokhonok's second language
is English, his first is Russian. But he does have a much greater
grasp on the English language than I have of Russian ;) However, just
one word can change the meaning of a sentence when you're talking
computer-related stuff; it's all in the details. You often have to
re-read and 'read between the lines' to get the gist of the stuff in
his owner's manuals. This has caused me several wasted hours in the
past with another of his software titles, "Auto Content Publisher."
(Check out sentence below that I just cut 'n pasted from a section of
Nickolay's website--it's killer funny! This sentence basically promises
AutoLinkExchanger is better than software costing much more):
"And then get back to this site and see that you did not have a
temporary fault with eyes when you saw that we are giving a much
better solution for free."
Pros:
Does more than SEO Elite. Auto Link Exchanger and its predecessor,
although not specifically a link exchange program--Auto Content
Publisher--are proof that more than just good vodka comes out of
Russia. Yes, the communication snafu is there, but the brilliance is
also there. Anyone who has had prior experience with Nick's software
knows how 'smart' it is and how much thought has gone into it.
Auto Link Exchanger has a large base of it's own site partners--over
6900 and counting--in addition to outsourcing links.
But here's where it really shines:
It has an integrated 'content manager' (like Auto Content Publisher)
that makes your links directory much better. It fetches news and
articles thru RSS and puts them on your pages (the news and articles
are in short 'snippets' with links to expand them to their full length).
Personally:
I'd already bought Auto Content Publisher from Nick Bokhonok some
time ago and used it on 2 automobile sites (hybrid cars and how to
buy a car.) After taking quite a while with the technical details of
installing and configuring the software (due to the language
'barrier'), I found that I had a fantastic, one-of-a-kind program
that elevated my car sites faster than anything else out there.
Although I haven't used Auto Link Exchanger (yet), I see that it's
made use of the Auto Content Publisher technology--very smart move
there--and I bet the owner's manual has improved greatly. The
website sure looks professional and I recently noticed that it now
has video tutorials!! (ACP didn't have that when I bought it.)
As far as recommending Auto Link Exchanger over SEO Elite, you have
to recognize that they are not the same designed programs; SEO Elite
is a reciprocal link exchange program and Auto Link Exchanger does
that but incorporates relevant content to your links directory pages
thru RSS and article-fetching software. So it automatically updates
your links directory pages with news, and articles based on the
keywords you give it.
So it really does much more, hence, the higher price. (But price alone
doesn't always tell the whole story, as you know. In this case,
however, the higher price may be justified.)
Anyway, if you aren't somewhat familiar with installing software onto
your web host's server, I would not buy AutoLinkExchanger or any
other SS "Server Side" software. At least not until you are certain
you want something that requires installation on a server and are
committed to learning how to do it with patience.*

There's nothing like real, live humans who know their stuff to talk to instead of email or even "live chat"
support. It should be illegal to even attach the word, "support" to the words "email" or "live chat." (By the
way, my $24.95 package includes a bunch of websites, among other things.)
Whether you go with HostGator or not, just make sure your host has 24/7 365 phone support and they actually
answer fairly quickly---test this before you spend $$ with them. I cannot emphasize
enough how much stress & time this will save you!!
