Insider Secrets
to Marketing Your Business on the Internet Review (Derek Gehl and Corey Rudl)
Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5

Intro: The IMC (Internet Marketing Center) is probably the largest brick- and mortar-based internet marketing company in the world. Located in Blaine, Washington, this multi-million dollar a year facility has become home to one of the biggest influences in internet marketing-- if not, the biggest.
I'm talking about its energetic young founder, Corey Rudl. Tragically, however, Corey was killed while riding shotgun in a friend's Porsche Carrera GT, on June 2nd, 2005 on the Fontana Motor Speedway in California. Another driver had pulled out directly in the path of the Porsche, causing the driver, Ben Keaton, to swerve at high speed-- losing control. Corey was killed instantly, Ben was pronounced dead after being airlifted to the hospital.
A site was setup in Corey's remembrance. His Dad, John, wrote a great testimony to his son and when you read it, not only will it bring tears to your eyes, but you'll learn things about Corey that I know will surprise you. Amazing. Such a generous and caring soul. But all most everyone saw was a rich internet marketer. Don't judge a book by its cover! The memorial site is Remember Corey.com. If you go there, you've gotta read Corey's Dad's entry--just scroll down a bit. His Dad's entry is grey-shaded so you can find it easy.
I won't forget the day I found out about Corey's death. Like so many other internet marketers, I found out when I turned on my computer and had several emails about the tragedy.
Corey leaves his company in good hands, however, with his long-time business partner and close friend, Derek Gehl.
The 2003 version of "Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet" was the first big internet marketing course that I'd bought and read. All other courses were smaller in comparison. It took me a while to get through it, but I did. However, many sections I just skimmed, because certain things just didn't apply to my situation at the time.
Anyway, according to the IMC, "Insider Secrets" has outsold every other similar series. There's two things to take from that statement:
1. It's the company making the claim, so you have to take it with a grain of salt.
2. But it's likely true because there just hasn't been another all- inclusive course as long running--that I've seen since '98.
Price: $197 - $397 (The "regular" price is $397, but the 2006 version had a "launch discount" of 200 dollars.) As of the date of this review article, JUL '07, the price is still listed as $197 and likely will remain that way.
Cons: Once the price gets around $200 or so, it starts gettin' expensive. It isn't really a "course." That is, although it comes in two big binders totaling over 1000 pages with tabbed steps, it's just too comprehensive to be a single "course." It's more like a set of Encyclopedia Brittanicas. But it also comes with DVDs.
Pros: If you truly apply yourself and follow "Insider Secrets" like you would a shorter internet marketing course, no price would be too high. That's because you would have completed the equivalent of a Master's Degree in Internet Marketing and be one smart cookie--a Guru in your own right. Some people would definitely find the same feature that I listed as a "con"--being too big to be a "course"--to be a fantastic deal.
After all, wouldn't it be better to have more relevant information that you want, than less? Hey there's no such thing as a free lunch or "get rich quick magic binders" of internet marketing secrets. Success takes time. There's tons of information and skills to master in internet marketing, probably more than is even in the "Insider Secrets" binders and DVDs. So, in that light, there's no such thing as too much information.

We're talking reference library material here. Dictionary-like efficiency with tabbed dividers taking you straight to the answer to your question. |
More: Anyway, sitting on my shelf in plain view here is the 2005 version of "Insider Secrets." I have to admit, however, that I've barely even cracked it, except for watching the dvds that came with it. However, it remains an absolutely awesome reference for my marketing library. And I have actually pulled it out and looked things up a few times-- it has convenient plastic tabbed dividers that makes it perfect for this.
If you can't find an answer to a question that's been nagging at you-- I guarantee you can quickly find it in any version of "Insider Secrets" manuals.
It's important to note that there is way more good stuff on the IMC website (which is MarketingTips.com...Don't try to go to InternetMarketingCenter.com because that belongs to a different company--one not associated with or near as good as IMC's.)
Anyway, Corey had assembled some of the best software of its type in the world--like Mailloop, AssocTrac, EbookPro, and others. Some of these things even top John Delavera's software.
Personally: A perfectly-setup internet marketing office would have the IMC's "Insider Secrets" binders & dvds close at hand.* This would be the perfect compliment to a shorter, more focused course--like Dave Vallieres' "You Can!" or the best long-term, 'one-stop' system like Dr. Ken Evoy's "SiteSell / SBI!" Here's why this is so:
Like I said before, even though I haven't read my '05 Insider Secrets binders (the latest version is '06, of course) cover-to-cover like I did with the '03 version, I've found myself grabbing a binder to look up something that's puzzled me from time to time. Like a dictionary. It's plastic-tabbed, labeled dividers makes these complete reference binders perfect for this....
*This has saved me hours of frustration:
You probably remember during grade school when you were told how to take a test. That in the interest of time, you're supposed to skip questions you had no immediate answer for, and return only after you'd answered the ones you did have an immediate answer for...
Well, that works for multiple-choice tests and other things but not for internet marketing. Because so much of the information builds on underlying info; you've gotta understand "A" before you can even hope to understand "B." This is how my copy of "Insider Secrets" has paid for itself several times over: It's allowed me to quickly look up--- dictionary like---any terms, concepts, or methods that you absolutely must know before moving on.
But, this is what I've found works for me.
