Instant PopOver Review
(Matt Callen)
Rating: 4 stars out of 5

Intro: Instant PopOver is a popup script (surprise!). As popup scripts go---and there's a bunch of 'em---this one's probably the best of all.
Price: $67
Cons: Price is steep for a pop up script. Especially considering all the free popup scripts floating around the internet. Even if this one is better. But is it worth it? And I noticed that the "Instant PopOver" popup that I created when preparing for this review had the "red x" (that closes it out) located off of the popup. Off in space to the top-right.
Well, turns out you've gotta manually edit the html if you want it on the popup. (This is why it gets only 4 stars; otherwise it's pretty slick.)
Pros: Instant PopOver is the only script of its type (so far) that has the realistic-looking popup templates that resemble 'sticky-notes' and other eye-catching images. It's even got one that looks just like a balled-up wad of paper that's been retrieved from the trash and flattened out to write on...although I'm not sure what the draw to that would be! (Maybe it could be used like this: "They say I'm giving away the store, but I decided to fish my crazy idea out of the trash and sell my widgets for half price for this week and this week only, blah blah blah...")
The screen capture image below shows one of the neat popup templates--a piece of cardboard!

The image below shows a sampling of some of the other eye-catching images for your popups. (All images are reduced size.)

Here's some of the cool features of Instant PopOver:
Can't be blocked.
Easy to use, menu-driven steps to create a customized popup. (Thank goodness it comes with good instructions, because theres 4 places you've gotta cut 'n paste code into your html for each popup---not including the 6 graphic files that need to be uploaded to your server as well.)
Create exit popups (only comes up when visitor leaves site).
Create alert popups (only comes up when a link is clicked.)
Create slide-in or float-in popups as well.
Realistic-looking images are much, much better than the old technology. | Personally: I think it's worth $67 for its ease of use and attractive-looking popups. Not only that, but it does convert very well.
Just make sure you use popups effectively, i.e., not in a way that's annoying to your visitor. (Like having a popup on multiple pages of your site, firing out offer after offer. Or by not setting the script to only come up once to the same visitor, per visit.) You worked hard to earn your visitor's trust, why jeopardize that?
But double-blind studies have proven that popups, in general, are much more effective at getting response than sites without a popup. And Instant PopOver has proven to improve upon the old style of popup by as much as 400%!...
