Intro:
NicheBot is fast becoming the "Gold Standard" for keyword research
programs. 

Price:  $9.95 / month for the "Lite Researcher," $19.95 / month for the
"Avid Keyword Researcher," and another level I can't remember :)

Cons:
If you log on during busy times, your search results may take up to
20 minutes to show up.  Two of my searches never showed up in my
"keyword basket" even though I was charged 2 "credits" each.

Pros:
There are many keyword research programs out there.  However, up 'til
now, each and every one queried one of the 3 following databases:

1. Overture's database (which returns inaccurate results).

2. WordTracker's database (big improvement over Overture.)

3. Keyword Discovery's database (which is an improvement over both
Overture and WordTracker in the size of the database it uses:
32 BILLION keywords from 180 different search engines!  Perhaps this
is why Keyword Discovery is more expensive than WordTracker.

But a good keyword research program will not only query a database
but will intelligently interpret the results.  WordTracker has a few
unique features that make it the favorite of many professional internet
marketers.  For one, it's good for finding recent "hot" keywords because
it's database goes back 100 days.  (Although Overture goes back only
30 days, it's results are skewed higher than is real.)

Keyword Discovery queries the huge databases of over 180 search
engines that go back 365 days.  So you can optimize a page for
keywords that aren't "flashes in the pan;" you can build a long-term
money-making site or page with these keywords.

NicheBot queries ALL THREE of the above databases for only $9.95 a
month!  Now, for this price you don't get unlimited searches.  You do,
however, get enough to keep most marketers happy.  And if you get
the "Avid" plan--$19.95 a month--you'll get enough search credits to
satisfy most full-time marketers.

But it's even more flexible than that:

If you want more searches, they can be bought in various groups of
"credits."  But it's all a great deal, very economical.

Personally:
NicheBot is hands-down the leader in keyword research programs. 
There's honestly so much more it does than I've listed here, but it
is explained so much easier right on the NicheBot site.

The $9.95 a month a a STEAL compared to having to subscribe to
just WordTracker alone or Keyword Discovery alone--much less getting
them both for $9.95 a month.
