WordTracker Review
(Rivergold Associates, Ltd.)
Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5

Intro: Alright, it used to be that you'd never hear the word, "keywords" without the word, "WordTracker" used in the same sentence. Wordtracker used to be, without a doubt, the tool you needed to make the 'college try' for the right keywords. It's a U.K.-based company and product, proving that the Brits know their stuff. But is it still the only tool to have? Read on...
Price: Since WordTracker is subscription-based, the prices vary from one- day access for around 8 bucks to a week for $27, a month for $55, and a year (best deal) for $275.
Cons: The subscription-based pricing.
Pros: The subscription-based pricing, for one. If you plan a project or three ahead of time, you can do your keyword research and save the results. Then, using your saved results, work on the 3 or 10 sites that you have researched throughout the year. (During which time you're not paying the WordTracker subscription--'cause you signed up for only a week, for instance.) As long as the websites you're working on aren't built around a temporary theme--like Madonna's new movie, for instance, your saved keyword research results should be good for at least a year-- probably more.
The screenshot below shows the depth of functions you get with your WordTracker subscription. (And remember, you can subscribe only long enough to knock out your research. Then cancel and spend the next however-many months building your profitable website(s).)

More: Also, the reason why WordTracker is subscription-based is because they are continually doing keyword research themselves, updating their database so as to provide you with the latest and greatest info. And, let's face it, in the web business world, the selection of keywords can make or break your business. You can get away with somewhat shoddy-looking websites or ad copy that isn't perfect, but if you neglect to put your best foot forward on your keyword research, you will be finished before you even get started. It's that critical.
WordTracker is still the go-to source for keyword research for many. Although it's marketed as a "tool," it's also the number one "source" in the same way that Google is a search source as much as a search tool. With that in mind, a focused keyword research tool--like Keyword Elite-- will benefit greatly from being able to query WordTracker's database.
As a matter of fact, WordTracker and Keyword Elite form an awesome combination with no equal. (Keyword Elite is designed to query WordTracker's database...it's not required, but it's designed to make full use of any good keyword database--including its own.)
But, like any combination of tools in your garage, you still have to know how to use them in order to get the results you're shooting for; if Keyword Elite represents a gun, then WordTracker is the bullet... You--the shooter--have to know how to use and aim the gun to hit your target...
Which means doing something that may be totally against your nature: Following the directions! ;)
Personally: Get Keyword Elite and subscribe to WordTracker. But you can first just sign up for WordTracker's Free trial, before committing any bucks. Don't skimp on this area of your online career. This is the area that will pay your bills and allow you to quit your day job. (Along with linking strategies if you're looking at organic search results--but start with good, quality keyword research.)
